The Province
of Catania manages the Museum of Volcanology Nicolosi
(CT), a museum dedicated to the Etna Volcano.
Opened in 2002, is headquartered in Nicolosi in Sicily
in the historic home of the brothers Gemmellaro,
scholars and volcanologists of Etna.
The museum area is divided into two sections as a
documentation center, develops into a prefab where there
is a rich collection of photos and murals, which
describe the different developmental stages of the
eruptions and a scale model of the entire Etna territory.
The other part is developed, inside the
nineteenth-century farmhouse, where you can see samples
of waste products such as lava, crystals, sublimation
and volcanic bombs and was set up a small screening room,
inherent to the volcano.
